How do we see ourselves?

magine carrying a heavy backpack filled with old beliefs, habits, and ideas from your past. These things, once useful, now weigh you down, representing the parts of you shaped by experiences and what others expect. This helps us understand the burden many carry, affecting our mental health and overall well-being.

The backpack symbolizes the experiences and behaviours we've learned that shape how we see ourselves. Often, these come from early life and pressures from society, shaping our identity and influencing our thoughts and actions. However, as we grow, some of these beliefs and habits may become outdated, holding us back.

Think about examining and unloading this backpack. This means looking at each belief and habit, asking, "Is this still helping me? Does this belief make me feel better? Does this habit help me grow?" This process is similar to cognitive-behavioral techniques, where we identify and challenge thoughts and behaviors that aren't helpful.

Letting go of what's no longer needed can bring great relief. By releasing outdated beliefs and conditioning, we create mental space, reducing stress and anxiety. This allows us to hear our true inner voice—the part of us that knows what we really want and what aligns with our core values.

As we continue to release what doesn't serve us, the influence of these old pressures lessens. This doesn't mean they disappear; they just become less powerful. Instead, our true self—our inner voice—becomes stronger and clearer. We start making choices that reflect our real desires and values, rather than following what others expect.

This change represents real growth. It's like becoming a new version of ourselves—more aware, thoughtful, and connected to our inner wisdom. This transformation, supported by practices like mindfulness and self-compassion, helps us act from a place of love, authenticity, and purpose.

In this journey of self-discovery and empowerment, we don't lose anything important. Instead, we gain a better understanding of who we are and what truly matters. This leads to a more fulfilling and meaningful life, grounded in well-being and self-acceptance.
